La Hacienda de San Angel- Dining Review at Disney World

On our, seemingly never-ending, quest to eat at every restaurant on Disney property we tackle La Hacienda de San Angel. This restaurant is located in the Mexico Pavillion at Epcot. It is located on the water of the world showcase lagoon.

First things first, this restaurant is only open for dinner. They open at 4 pm. I’m going to give you a rundown of the pros and cons, in my opinion of this restaurant. The Mexico Pavillion has a lot of choices for food, from quick bites, drinks, or sit down meals.

Pros of La Hacienda de San Angel

Location, Location, Location. This restaurant is located right on the water. With beautiful windows, it is an ideal place to watch the fireworks over World Showcase Lagoon. ( when they return)

The kid’s menu is good. They have traditional ” kids food” like chicken fingers and some more tame Mexican dishes ( quesadillas). The restaurant inside the pavilion, San Angel Inn, has less kid-friendly options on the kid menu. My kids are pretty adventurous eaters and they don’t like the menu inside. However, I 100% prefer the ambiance and mood of the San Angel Inn.

Portion size. The portion sizes here were huge. So big, I got an appetizer for my dinner and I was glad I did. My husband’s meal was so large it could have been split. Consider that when ordering. Sometimes in the Florida heat, I’m not so interested in stuffing myself. If you are looking for a light dinner option, look elsewhere.

The price. Although the portions were big, so was the bill.

Limited ambiance. As I mentioned I prefer the restaurant inside the Mexico pavilion. It made a great impression on me as a kid and it is so fun. Additionally, you can eat inside La Hacienda de San Angel when ordering from the quick service next door at lunchtime. We have eaten inside many times, ice-cold AC anyone, so I wanted to see a transformation in the evening. Spoiler alert, there isn’t one.

They don’t accept Tables in Wonderland or have an AP discount. They do however offer 10% off food only for Disney Vacation Club members.

My overall impression of this restaurant. Skip. Sorry! There are too many other great places to eat around Disney property and in Epcot. I can’t see us being repeat diners here. If you want the experience, eat at the quick service place for lunch and grab a table inside the icy cool restaurant. The price point is better and you’ll have the same great view of the water. If you are looking for a great margarita, you can get one no less than three other places without a reservation!

Where should we eat next? What is your favorite Disney Restaurant or where are you dying to eat?
