Top 5 Reasons to Stay At Pop Century Resort at Disney World

Pop Resort at Disney World: If you have been here for any length of time, you will know that I LOVE the Value resorts at Walt Disney World. I have tons of reasons why (and wrote a few articles about them that I will link to at the bottom of this article), but the main reason is that of the price.

*Updated November 13th, 2022*

I will be the first to say that Disney World is expensive! And I do fully acknowledge that I am very lucky to be able to go as often as I do go (although it never seems like enough 😀 ). But if it weren’t for Disney’s Value resorts, we would not be able to go nearly as often.

This past January, we had the pleasure of staying at the Pop Century Resort for the FIRST time! We typically stay at one of the All-Star Resorts. But since they were closed (due to Disney World limiting what’s available because of Covid), we figured we would stay at Pop!

And boy, am I so glad we did! It is now one of our FAVORITE resorts on property! Below I will tell you why you should stay at the Pop Resort at Disney World next time you head here for vacation.

1. Price

As I said before, Disney World can be veeeeaaarrryyy expensive. So it is nice that Disney offers resorts at a more family-friendly price range. That being said, the Pop resort is one of the more expensive resorts in the Value category. There is good reason for that though, because it does have a few more perks to it over the other Value resorts (we will get into that later.)

The photo above shows the price per night for the last week of August. I also included the All-Star Movies Resort price just so you can see the comparison. With Disney World being as expensive as it is, these prices do not seem too bad, especially with the sale that Disney is currently having.

2. Theme of the Pop Resort at Disney World

The theming of the Pop Resort at Disney World is just soo cute! With this resort, you will get to experience the fads of the 1950s, all the way through to the 1990s! With each section of the resort representing a different decade.

We stayed in the 70’s section, which I loving called the “Mickey Phone” section. Check out the photo above to see why.

Just like the All-Star Resorts, Pop Century is full of larger-than-life characters! Not only does Pop have these characters, but they also have larger-than-life items of nostalgia too! It’s just so much fun to wander the resort and explore the different decades.

3. Proximity to other resorts

If you enjoy visiting other Disney World resorts on your ‘down days’, then Pop is perfect for you! You can easily walk over to the Art of Animation Resort to check out what it has to offer! And just a short Skyliner (more of that to come later in the post) away is the Caribbean Beach Resort and The Riviera Resort! It really is tons of fun just to explore the resorts and see all of the awesome theming! It’s really fun to get all of that Disney ‘feel’ and magic, without the hustle and the bustle of actually being in the parks.

4. The Shop at Pop Resort at Disney World

Out of all shops at the Value resorts, I personally think that Pop Century has the best shop. From pins, to kitchen items, to food, and board games- there really is a huge selection for everyone! Did you forget to buy something at the parks? Chances are that they have something similar right here in the Pop Shop!

5. Skyliner

Okay, I am saving the best for last- the TOP reason why you should stay at Pop Resort at Disney World is…. the SKYLINER! Honestly, I was suuuppper skeptical of the Skyliner when Disney first announced that they were building it. I didn’t think it was something that was going to work out well or be convenient. But boy, was I wrong! The Skyliner is probably one of the most convenient modes of transportation that Disney World has to offer. It is constantly flowing and a quick trip over to Hollywood Studios and Epcot!

Not to mention the views from up there! Riding the Skyliner gives you a birds-eye view of some resorts (Pop, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera). Also, on your way over to Hollywood Studios, you get a great view of the Tower of Terror!

I'm a lover of all things Disney! I have an adorable son named Andy (after Toy Story), and an amazing hubby named Aaron. For my family and I, Disney isn’t just a hobby or someplace we casually go when on vacation, it's a way of life. We try to go back 'Home' twice a year. My hope for this blog is to help families navigate their crazy, magical times through Disney and reach their Disney Dream!

So good to read your article, I am planning a Disney trip for next year. I stayed at POP resort years ago and had a terrible experience but it looks like it has been updated quite a bit since last time I went. Great info!

I LOVE Pop Century resort!!! I’ve stayed there twice. It’s always so nice there. And a great deal! I mean we’re only at the hotel for a few hours to sleep, so why pay so much when you’re hardly there! I haven’t been there since the addition of the Skyliner, but can already tell I will LOVE it!

We love the Disney Value Resorts, but have yet to make it to Pop Century. Hope to be able to check it out soon! We also didn’t get a chance to ride the skyliner. I got nervous after all those people got stuck, so wanted to give it a little more time to work out the kinks. Then our passes expired January 2020 and we decided not to renew, which in hindsight I am glad about. Though I really would have liked to visit the parks at limited capacity. Haven’t been to Disney in almost 2 years and I am missing the magic!
