Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is Family Friendly Fun!
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway: Finally, a truly family-friendly ride that won’t have you singing “Let It Go” or “It’s a Small World” the whole time! I had the pleasure of experiencing Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ newest attraction and I think your entire gang will love it.
When you heard the ride would be centered around Mickey and Minnie, you probably assumed it would be a family-friendly ride. And Disney Imagineering could’ve stopped there, but they didn’t. This attraction is packed with scenes and effects that are unlike most other attractions at Walt Disney World. Let’s take a look at what makes this ride fun for all.
There is no height requirement. Kids of all ages are welcome! And, as of the writing of this article, there is a sign outside the attraction stating children under 7 must be accompanied by a guest 14 or older. So, parents, if you’ve got something going on, you can send your little one on with your teenager.
This is not a thrill ride. Yes, it’s full of excitement, sounds, quick set changes, and a truly runaway rail car, there are no sudden drops. There are no quick, loud explosive sounds. You don’t spin nearly as much as you do on Toy Story Mania over in Toy Story Land.
There a few “magical moments” that I won’t spoil for you. They start in the pre-show portion! Trust me – your kids will be blown away. And, honestly, so will you.
If you’ve got someone in your group who just doesn’t like wearing 3D glasses, then this is their ride. Disney implements a new kind of set design that simulates a 3D look without requiring guests to wear the glasses. And it looks so cool! If you’ve experienced Na’vi River Journey in Animal Kingdom, you’ve gotten a glimpse of the effect. It’s a lot of layering, projections, and technology.
Although it stars Mickey and Minnie, all your favorite characters from the Mickey cartoons show up. Some highlights include quality time with Daisy in a dance studio. And Goofy himself is conducting the train.
I’m excited for everyone to experience this attraction. Feel free to stop back here and tell me how you liked it!
