Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace Review
Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace: Fun Fact before we get started on our breakfast review. Do you know why Topolino’s Terrace is named what it’s named? (Hint- it has to do with our favorite mouse!)
Back in 1932 (about 4 years AFTER Steamboat Willie came out), an Italian man named Mario Nerbini began making cartoons that looked JUST like the main Mouse himself. But he did not have the rights to Mickey Mouse’s name or likeness. This led Mario Nerbini to call his character Topo Lino- which literally translates to “little mouse” in Italian- for legal reasons.
Eventually, Mario Nerbini got the rights to the Mickey name. But since Topo Lino (now just Topolino) was already so popular in Italy, the name stuck! And the rest is history!
Topolino’s Terrace is inspired by French and Italian cuisine- so this is why they named it Topolino’s Terrace!
Okay, now back to what this article is REALLY supposed to be about- FOOD. Yummy food and lots of it.
The Location and Atmosphere: Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace
Topolino’s Terrace is located at the tippy top of one of Disney World’s newest resorts- The Riviera (click here to read more about this resort). The location of this resort is great! It’s just one Skyliner ride away from so many places! (Pop Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot). Getting to this resort is a literal breeze.
When you arrive at the Riviera Resort, you will have to head up the elevator to the top floor to reach the restaurant. Once you get there…. that view! I don’t think there is a better view in all of Walt Disney World! From some windows and from parts of the outside terrace, you can see some other resorts and even some of the parks!
Since we are in the time of COVID, Topolino’s Terrace has a few different things that were not there before. Once we got up and out of the elevator, they took our temperatures before they sat us. The menu also is a scannable QR code.
Food and Characters: Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace
Now for my favorite part…. the food and the characters! For breakfast only, Topolino’s Terrace has Mickey and friends come around to do their little dances! The characters did not come to each individual table, but stayed in the main center path around the restaurant.
I completely understand why they did this, but for us, it was a little bit of a disappointment because we were not seated very close to the main path. We still got to see all of the characters, but for my 6-year-old son, it was hard for him not to be close to them.
Let me just say that the food was one of the BEST breakfasts that I have ever had at the parks. It was filling, scrumptious… but quite expensive. The cost for breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is $41 for adults and $24 for children ages 3-9.
They started us off with a basket of pastries. This was particularly exciting for my son because his favorite place to eat in all of WDW is Be Our Guest for breakfast. And since the breakfast portion of BOG is closed right now, he was ecstatic to see them bring us a basket full! (Check out this review of Be Our Guest!)
The pastries came with three things: a sweet butter, a hazelnut spread, and a jam. They were all delicious!
I ordered the Sour Cream Waffles. These waffles were served with a roasted apple, chantilly, orange-maple syrup, smoked bacon, ham, and sausage.
If you have been around here for any length of time, you will know that I have a soft spot in my heart for Mickey Waffles. Even though these sour cream waffles were amazing, Mickey waffles still hold first place in my heart.
Now, take a look at what my son got!
Aren’t these the cutest?! I was almost a little bit jealous of his plate because of how cute it was! His meal was called the Mickey Mouse Dippers. It came with a few dipping sauces and a side.
At the time, my husband was under a dietary restriction plan. He could not order anything directly off the menu because there was nothing there that he could eat without being greatly modified. But the waiter was so helpful! He was able to help my husband find things that he could eat. Disney has always been great about that!

Conclusion: Will I eat Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace again? Yes, but not right away. I did really enjoy myself and my whole family had a great time. Just with the combination of the price and not a super great character experience- I think we will wait until things are back to normal before we try here again.
