What To Pack in Your Disney World Park Bag

Disney World Park Bag: When going on a vacation – especially a Disney vacation – it’s very important to make sure you are packing all of the right things. But have you ever thought about what to pack in your park bag?

For those who might not know, when we refer to a “park bag”, we mean the bag you take into the parks – pretty self-explanatory. Having everything that you need in this bag is very important too!

Recently we, (Kim, Jen, and I) were on That Park Life Podcast. We had such a great time and really appreciate Greg and Beth for having us on! We bet you will never guess the topic. That’s right! We talked about what we pack in our park bags.

All three of us pack differently, so it was interesting to see what we pack and why we pack it.

This post will be slightly different than our others because all three of us will be working on this one! To keep this at a reasonable length, we will only be posting our top 4-5 unique items (to avoid repeating what somebody else already said). We are very excited for this and hope it helps you out!

Jen’s Disney World Park Bag

I have two growing boys that have outgrown strollers but not the need for snacks. Because of this my husband and I each carry a backpack. He has a cooler bag and I have a traditional backpack.

1. Cooler Back Pack

This bag can hold a lot of snacks and drinks and keep them all cool with some frozen ice packs that slide into zippered compartments. My husband raves of the comfort of this bag, I think he likes it because it is cooling his back as he carries it. This bag saves us money on snacks and drinks for the kids and ourselves.

2. Handheld Fan

This is my favorite park bag accessory. Living in Florida, I bring this fan almost everywhere. It has three speeds and is USB rechargeable. It really cools you off and works much better than any other fan I have tried!

3. Dental Floss

That’s right! We love getting popcorn in the parks but I don’t love having kernels stuck in my teeth. You can thank me later!

4. Portable Charger

This portable charger is similar to the Fuel Rods you will find in the parks. Arguably, this charger is better and half the cost. The appeal of the Fuel Rod brand is free unlimited swaps in the Disney Parks. Either way I prefer to have a charger on hand so I don’t have to find a place to plug in during the day.

5. Insulated Water Bottle

I love the shape of this bottle as it fits nicely into the side pocket of my backpack. We constantly fill up this bottle with the free ice water You can get in the parks. Florida heat and humidity is no joke and it is important to stay hydrated.

Nicole’s Disney World Park Bag

I only have one kid, but sometimes I feel like I am packing for 10 in my Disney World Park Bag! I try to keep it light, but that never actually works out. If you listen to the podcast, you would have heard that basically only pack for him.

1. Shout Wipes

These are a LIFE saver! My son can be messy at times ( what 5-year-old boy isn’t), and this saves me from coming back from vacation with a bunch of stained clothes. Also, they are so lightweight, that you won’t even know that they are there! This is probably the most important thing I pack in my Disney World Park Bag.

2. Noise Muffling Ear Muffs

If you have a kiddo that is a little sensitive to loud sounds, then these are perfect for you! My son loves to watch the fireworks, but they are just a bit too loud. These are perfect for him! My son has the red ones, but they come in 10 different colors!

3. Grab and Go Play Packs

These are perfect to keep your kiddos entertained while waiting in a long line! They come with a small coloring book, a few crayons, and some stickers! The best part is that they are resealable so when your kid is done, you can just close it up and throw it back in your bag!

4. Snacks

Kim’s Disney World Park Bag

When I go to the parks, I’m generally just packing for me and my husband, Ben (or sometimes just for me). Before we started going to the parks together, Ben was a no-bag guy (and sometimes, I still feel his eye roll as he strolls through the no bag line while I’m stuck opening up our bag. He’s a good husband, though, and we trade who’s stuck with the bag). I think his approach to the parks really inspired me to pack light, but I still need some stuff.

Still, we keep it to the essentials only and even though we don’t head back to the hotel in the middle of most days, only bring a small bag. It may surprise some people to hear that we never bring snacks or even a water bottle (but we regularly pick up free cups of water from all over the parks). There are some things that absolutely can’t be left behind, though.

1. The Bag

I use a Mickey-print Loungefly mini backpack. You can get these bags lots of places (including in the parks), but I got this puppy on sale from boxlunch.com. They have a bunch of designs here!

This bag has plenty of room for all of my and Ben’s stuff, and still has room for some shopping. The small front pocket is great for quick-access items like my annual pass (gotta get those discounts!) and our phone chargers and cords. The side pockets are great for things like sunscreen or a few pins for trading. The main pocket is super spacious and has some structure, which helps keep my more delicate items (like sunglasses or my interchangeable Mickey ears) from being crushed.

2. Body Cleansing Wipes

Especially in the summer, these puppies are life savers. Once or twice a day, I’ll head into the bathroom and use a wipe for a quick refresh. I come out feeling like a whole new woman.

I use Secret Body Cleansing Wipes. They’re individually-wrapped so I can bring as many as I need. Also, they come in some light, neutral scents like “birch water” that are gender-neutral. The wipe is cloth-like, so it’s soft on my skin and durable (it doesn’t shred after one wipe down my arm). I found these at both Target and CVS, but you can also pick them up on amazon.com here!

3. Mini Deodorant

The Body Cleansing Wipes will remove your deodorant, so I always make sure to bring a travel size replacement with me to the parks to use as part of my mid-day (early evening, evening, etc.) refresh. I usually like to use the Secret “On-the-go” deodorant. This antiperspirant feels more solid than a traditional stick and does better on a hot day without melting in your bag. Again, I got mine at CVS, but you can pick some up from the comfort of your couch here!

In a pinch, if you need some deodorant, the mini-mart in any DVC resort will carry some neutral mini deodorants for both men and women.

4. Anti-Chafing Gel

There is absolutely NO thigh gap on this girl. I promise chub rub is real. This is no laughing matter and it can honestly ruin your whole day. To minimize that inner-thigh chafing, I’ve turned to Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel. I got a lot of recommendations for different chafing-relief cures (deodorant, Body Glide, etc.) but I found that deodorant tended to leave marks on my clothes and I just couldn’t find Body Glide in a store near me. Since I fell in love with the Powder Gel, I stopped looking. I got mine at CVS (I go to CVS a lot, ok?), but here it is on amazon!

This tube is small (I put a pen in the photo for size reference), so it’s easy to toss in my bag, but a little bit goes a long way. I love that this goes on smooth and dry (it’s not at all sticky or slippery like a lotion) — it’s actually a clear-ish gel that goes on and feels like baby powder (some hocus pocus right there). I can go for HOURS without needing more and it has saved my precious thighs.

5. The Randoms

I’m tempted to call this my “first aid kit,” but it would honestly be a terrible first aid kit. Instead, it’s a random collection of various items that I’ve found I needed in the parks at one time or another. I use a small coin purse to hold the following items: extra contacts, bobby pins, a hair tie, bandaids, some Advil, Benadryl, collapsible scissors, tweezers, and double-sided fashion tape. Just trust me.
