How to Receive a Free Gift Card from WDW!

I don’t know about you, but when I am vacationing, I usually deny daily housekeeping. I personally just am not a fan of someone cleaning my stuff and making my bed. (I hardly make my bed when I am at home, I don’t need my bed made when on vacation 🙂 ). But did you know that Disney World will give you a Free Disney gift card for denying daily house keeping? It is one of my favorite perks while staying at a Walt Disney World Resort! But not all resorts do this awesome perk (which is called “Service Your Way”). Read on for more info on how to get that gift card and all of the details that go along with it.

What Resorts Qualify?

As of right now, the “Service Your Way” perk is only offered at Value and Moderate Resorts. These resorts are-

Unfortunately, you can not opt out of housekeeping while staying at Deluxe Resorts.

How do I sign up?

If you decide you’d like to decline housekeeping, the front desk castmembers will help you out. Sometimes I had a castmember offer it to me while checking in, other times they didn’t mention it. If they don’t mention it, make sure to ask for it.

Are there any requirements?

There are just a few. First, you must be staying a minimum of 2 nights. Second, you can not be booked as part of a group or a convention.

How much money do you get on your Free Disney gift card?

Disney

The question we all wanted to be answered! Disney will give you $10 for every night that you are there, minus one night.

So let’s say that you are there for 6 nights. Disney will give you $50. That’s approximately 7 1/4 Mickey Pretzels, 10 bags of popcorn, 8 1/2 Mickey Bars, or 8 churros. Doesn’t every normal person do math with food? 🙂

Will I get a physical gift card?

Nope! You will get it by email. Once you check in and deny House Keeping, Disney will send you an email containing the correct amount. If it’s not there right away, don’t worry! Some times it can take up to two hours to get to your inbox.

What if I do online check in, can I still partcipate in “Service Your Way”?

Yup! Just make sure you let the front desk know. You can go down to the front desk, or just call them from your room once you arrive.

What if I run out of towels/shampoo/etc.?

Nicole Ellington

That’s okay! You can always call the front desk and ask them to bring you some. Or if you see a housekeeper in the hallways, ask them to pass you want you need.

Where can I use my Free Disney gift card?

Almost anywhere! Stores and restaurants accept Disney gift cards as a form of payment. If you decided that you don’t want to use it while at the parks, you can use your Free Disney gift card at your local Disney Store or use it to shop online at ShopDisney.com

Anything else I need to know?

Just because you deny housekeeping, doesn’t mean that no one will enter your room. In an effort to increase security, a Disney castmember might enter your room for a security check.

So what do you think about this? Is “Service Your Way” something that you will use? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments down below!

I'm a lover of all things Disney! I have an adorable son named Andy (after Toy Story), and an amazing hubby named Aaron. For my family and I, Disney isn’t just a hobby or someplace we casually go when on vacation, it's a way of life. We try to go back 'Home' twice a year. My hope for this blog is to help families navigate their crazy, magical times through Disney and reach their Disney Dream!

Yay! I am so glad that I can help! It’s for sure one of my favorite perks of staying on site 🙂 Have a great trip!

We did this our last trip and loved it! We stayed only 3 nights so we received a $20 gift card. We were hardly in our room so it did not need cleaning. Plus I didn’t have to worry about putting my stuff away so they could clean. It was wonderful having a bonus $20 to spend!
