My biggest Disney Regrets of 2019

The new year always brings us to reflect on the past and make plans for the coming year. Do you ever make great plans only to realize they were not that great? Or found yourself underwhelmed by your plans? Whelp. Me too. Here is the list of my biggest Disney regrets of 2019. Maybe my mistakes may help you avoid one of your own in 2020.

  1. Akerhus -Royal Banquet Hall

This restaurant is character dining. Princess character dining. Mistake number one, research your dining options. As a reminder, I have two sons. My two sons were furious that they were subjected to eating in a princess dining hall. ( enjoy the attached gallery of me with every princess in the restaurant) The menu had no prices. Mistake number 2. Dinner consisted of an appetizer buffet and an individual dinner. The buffet was just ok, however, my dinner was delicious. It also came with a variety of desserts to try at the end of your meal. It was so expensive my husband left the receipt on the table” so he would never have to look at it again”. My son’s Mac and Cheese was $36. Thirty-Six Dollars.

2. Tusker House

OK, unpopular opinion time. This is a wildly popular buffet, character dining in the Animal Kingdom ( see what I did there). Here you will meet Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy in their super cute safari gear. We ate here for lunch. I just never feel like we get our money worth from a buffet. We also waited a LONG time to meet all the characters and actually had to ask them to come to our table. We had somehow missed a few characters. Pro tip: don’t be afraid to alert the wait staff if you haven’t seen a character. The Character dining is expensive and what you are paying for is character time. Just remember to be nice! However, others love this spot so read Nicole’s post on what they love this restaurant.

3. Not Renewing our Tables in Wonderland Card Sooner

Tables in Wonderland is a card that can be purchased at any customer service location, or over the phone. For around $125-150 it provides you with 20% off at most sit down restaurants around Disney property including alcohol. Having this card would have made the price at regret #1 slightly more bearable.

4. Not being brand loyal

Hear me out here. Yes, I am loyal to Disney in a way, but there is no incentive for being so. We are in the throws of planning a trip to Disney’s Aulani resort in Hawaii. Traveling with a family of four is not cheap. So we have been kicking ourselves for not sticking with a brand sooner. We have used Hotels.com in the past. Now we are trying to rack up all the Southwest and Hilton points possible for our big summer adventure. I wish we would have been more focused on our efforts even if we don’t travel enough to make elite status.
