Tusker House: Top 5 Reasons You Need to Eat Here

Disney World Tusker House: What do you do when one person in your party will eat anything and everything (spoiler – that’s me), and someone else in your party only eats maybe a handful of foods and refuses everything else (another spoiler –  that’s my five-year-old son)?  Going out to eat must be hard, right?  Wrong!  Not at Disney World, anyway.  So many restaurants there cater to adventurous eaters and picky eaters alike.  This blog post will be all about Tusker House over in the Animal Kingdom. I personally believe that it is hands down one of the best buffets on Walt Disney World property. From the food, to the atmosphere, to the characters… everything about it is just great! Read on to see why I think so.

1- The Picky Eater

When choosing a restaurant that will please even the pickiest of eaters,  you might not automatically think of Tusker House. I find that most people who have never been there before just associate it with African cuisine.  And while a lot of their food does have an African influence to it,  Tusker House has an amazing selection for those who might be a little on the timid side when it comes to food.  As an example,  last time we went to Tusker House for breakfast. My son,  who is the pickiest kid on the planet, ate so much that day.  He had Mickey waffles, bacon, and fruit (three of the basically 8 things he eats). Tusker House also offers yogurt, applesauce, eggs,  pancakes,  cereal,  and a lot of other typical breakfast foods that someone who isn’t that adventurous with their food choices would like. We also went to Tusker House last year for lunch,  and my picky, picky son was able to find tons of things that he was willing to eat.

2- The Adventurous Eater

Don’t get me wrong,  I love typical breakfast food (hi,  my name is Nicole,  and I’m obsessed with Micky waffles.  Side note:  if you would like to learn how to make your own Mickey waffles, click here! ). But, while I am on vacation,  I like to have food that I can’t typically get at home.  That’s where Tusker House comes in. I was able to try (and really enjoy)  things I have never had before! There was an assortment of meats, breads, and pastries that were just outstanding! And for lunch,  again,  so many wonderful things to try! You can go up to the buffet multiple times and try something new each and every time.

3- Allergy Friendly

For those of you that don’t know, my son has a peanut allergy.  So going out to eat can sometimes be nerve-wracking for us.  But Disney is able to put our minds at ease! When you first check in to Tusker House,  make sure to let them know that you have an allergy. They’re fully prepared with a paper allergy menu.  The menu is a sort of graph that helps you sort out what may or may not contain your allergen. Even though the menu is very helpful, Disney will still send out a chef to your table to answer any questions you may have about your choices. A few times, the chef even gave me a tour of the buffet line and told me all about the food as we walked around each station. You can tell that they really care and want you and your family to have a stress-free dining experience.

4- The Atmosphere

Honestly, Tusker House is one of the prettiest restaurants that I have ever been too.  The attention to detail that Disney puts into it is just astounding! They are very meticulous with everything they do.  I have been to Tusker House a handful of times now,  and I still find something new to look at each time I’m there.  Also, don’t forget to look up while you are at the buffet stations! There are some really beautiful decorations everywhere you look.

5- Entertainment

If you didn’t know this already,  Tusker House is a character dining restaurant.  Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy all make their way around to each table during your visit.  The interaction with each character is so personal and fun! Also, about every hour,  they call all the kids to join the characters for a parade around the restaurant! My son loves this and looks forward to it every trip.

I'm a lover of all things Disney! I have an adorable son named Andy (after Toy Story), and an amazing hubby named Aaron. For my family and I, Disney isn’t just a hobby or someplace we casually go when on vacation, it's a way of life. We try to go back 'Home' twice a year. My hope for this blog is to help families navigate their crazy, magical times through Disney and reach their Disney Dream!
